Sonora Pony
This lifesize resin sculpture was part of the "Ponies del Pueblo" charity project in Tucson, AZ. It sold in a 2004 auction for $25,000 and now resides permanently at the Sonora Desert Museum in the scenic Tucson foothills. Lori's native roots to Tucson ties her to the early years of the Sonora Desert Museum. Her parents' private kindergarten and summer camp sent her on bi-yearly visits to its ever-evolving exhibits. It was a place where I could get up close and personal with the diverse creatures of the Sonoran Desert we live in. Look carefully, as there are over 30 critters on this pony all wrapped into the contours of the horses shape giving it an almost 3-D affect. Lori's attention to fine detail on the flora and fauna attests to her love of the medium, the shape of the horse and of nature. This was a commissioned piece and the original is not for sale. If you are interested in commissioning a piece on a critter sculpture, please contact me for a price quote and time frame.
